~ Chasing Chaos

The book is Chasing Chaos by Jessica Alexander (one that I really want to read!) and the picture was taken by my friend and real life hero Sara!

No words would fit better after deciding to postpone the trip back to Portugal and after all the support my family gave me. Thank you for encouraging me to stay where I feel that I am supposed to be.

Back to the camp!

Two weeks after arriving in Greece for the second time, I still have no time to sit down and write.  I am not here to volunteer in the clinic this time, but I am replacing Lisa, the camp manager, at Do Your Part while she visits her family. Hard job this one… how do you replace an irreplaceable person? When I left the camp, 200 people were living here. Now the camp has outgrown itself and we have more than 550 residents and are faced with challenges every day.
The hope that I first saw is slowly fading from them being in the same situation over and over again, day after day, and that surely resents on the environment of the camp. Having more people here made the residents turn into survival mode again, and who can blame them after all that they already faced? We still work on it, every day with love and willing and try to turn this place into a community and not only a waiting camp, us volunteers and the residents as well, and we will, with patience and hard work make this place a little bit better every day despite all the adversities and challenges!
I was preparing to leave on August 3rd but how can I turn my back on this place and just go? I left with the feeling that I would definitely be back and now I stay with the feeling that I would never be able to completely leave.
If you are reading this and you are willing to volunteer, please do! We need you here, the residents need you here, and even a small drop can make the Ocean bigger.
I am also so thankful for all the support messages I have been receiving and want to share one of them with you.
